
A CRPF personnel and an unidentified militant were killed in two separate militancy-related events in Budgam and Pulwama districts of Kashmir on Thursday.
According to the reports, the militants attacked a CRPF party in Keisarmulla area of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district injuring a CRPF jawan. The militant also managed to snatch the injured trooper’s rifle before escaping from the spot.
CRPF spokesman, Pankaj Singh said that the jawan was identified as N.Badolay from Nagpur and he succumbed to the injuries at the hospital.” His rifle is missing as well” Singh added.
In a separate incident, an unidentified militant was killed on Thursday in Machoma, Tral area of Awantipora, in Jammu’s South-Pulwama district in a gun-fight with security forces.
The encounter erupted after a joint team of Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles and J&K police launched a cordon-and-search operation in Machoma Tral. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team igniting an encounter, police said.
According to the police, a militant was killed in the initial exchange of fire and that the operation is still underway. The identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.
