SpiceJet has announced to launch 42 new flights between July 10 and July 30. According to an official statement issued on Thursday, the budget Indian air carrier would add both domestic and international flights.
SpiceJet had revealed the domestic routes that it was planning to add in the upcoming days but has not revealed the international routes yet. SpiceJet carrier had said that they would start flights on the Surat-Jabalpur and Surat-Pune routes and that the airline would also be connecting the city of Surat with Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, and the city of Gwalior with Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Pune. It would launch non-stop return flights on the Gwalior-Ahmedabad, Gwalior-Mumbai, and Gwalior-Pune routes.
SpiceJet said that they had for the first time also introduced flights on the Kolkata-Pune, Patna-Surat, Surat-Patna, Patna-Kolkata, Ahmedabad-Udaipur, Udaipur-Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru-Kochi routes.
Between March 25 and May 24 in the previous year, the domestic passenger traffic was suspended in India for over two months due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The domestic traffic had been on a path of recovery when the second wave of the pandemic hit India during the April and May months of this year.
Due to the second wave of COVID-19, the aviation sector was severely hit and as of now, the Indian carriers were operating around 1,499 daily domestic flights.
