Flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be temporarily suspended for six hours on May 9, as the airport undergoes scheduled pre-monsoon runway maintenance. The shutdown will be in effect from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, according to the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL).
Both primary (09/27) and secondary (14/32) runways will be non-operational during this window. The airport operator said the maintenance is crucial for ensuring safe operations during the upcoming monsoon season.
The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued six months in advance, enabling airlines and stakeholders to adjust schedules and minimize inconvenience to passengers.
As part of the annual procedure, specialists will inspect the runways for surface wear and tear, and carry out preventive measures against waterlogging to enhance safety during landings and take-offs in the rainy season.
Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for rescheduled or adjusted flight timings on May 9.
