On Thursday, the Air India carrier, which is owned by the Tata Group, updated its livery. The Air India emblem still features the colors red, white, and a hint of purple. As part of the occasion, The Airline also released its brand-new theme music. The logo, according to Chandrashekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, represents confidence and boundless potential.
The vision represented by the formerly used window (the peak of the golden window signifies infinite possibilities, progress, confidence, and all of it), according to Chandrasekaran, is represented by the new logo that you see here today.
“We are concentrating on modernizing every component of human resources… Our fleet needs a lot of maintenance… Although we have placed numerous aircraft orders… Our current fleet has to be upgraded to an appropriate standard. Although there will be a lot of work involved, the way forward is obvious. Where we desire to be is clear to us. The new logo depicts our audacious vision, he continued.
The airline had stated that an event on August 10 will herald the beginning of a new age of transformation.
The term “livery” describes the assortment of emblems, insignia, colors, and distinctive identifiers connected to an airline brand. These components are painted or coated with vinyl to be mounted on airplanes, giving the outside of the aircraft a visual representation of the airline’s identity. Since 2014, Air India has utilized a crimson swan with an orange depiction of the Konark Chakra as their logo.
The airline previously announced that it would obtain a new livery with purple, red, and white accents. While the colors red and white are those of Air India, the purple will be derived from the Vistara airline’s livery.
On January 27, 2022, Tata Sons gained full ownership of the financially precarious Air India through its wholly-owned company Talace Private Limited. Tata Sons announced its desire to combine Air India and Vistara into a single, consolidated organization after this acquisition. By March 2024, the merger process is expected to be completed. Singapore Airlines is expected to own a quarter of the newly created amalgamated firm as part of the merger.
Along with the above mentioned changes, there are proposals to unite Air India Express and Air Asia India to form a single low-cost airline.
The Tata Group hired London-based brand and design consultant Futurebrands in December 2022 as a first step toward rebranding Air India. This action demonstrates the Tata Group’s dedication to strategically rebranding Air India in order to shape its future identity.
