Air India Express IX1344 plane tried to land twice before overshooting runway

A global flight tracker website asserted that the Air India Express flight, flying from Dubai to Kozhikode, tried to land twice at the airport.

A Global flight tracker website indicated that Air India Express plane that skidded on runway at Kerla’s Kozhikode tried to land twice at the tabletop airport. A Swedish firm called Flightradar24 shows real-time commercial flight tracking information on a map. Flightradar24 denoted about Boeing 737 NG that came from Dubai with 190 people tried to land twice.

The Air India flight Express, with more than 180 passengers onboard, skidded off the runway on Friday. There was information about the death of atleast 16 people, including pilot and co-pilot, and 123 injured.

The plane serving the Vande Bharat Mission got skidded off the tabletop runway and fell into 50-feet valley breaking it into two portions. The lane Mission was to  repatriate Indian Nationals from overseas during coronavirus lockdown, but the plane skidded off from tabletop runway, the runway which is on the top of hill or plateau with one or both ends adjacent to a steep elevation, drops into gorge.

In a statement, Directorate General of Civil Aviation(DGCA) said the plane landed in heavy rain and after landing at runway 10, it continued running until the end of runway and fell down in the valley and broke into two.

Air India Express AXB1344, B737 Dubai to calicut, person on board 191, visibility 2000 meter, heavy rain, after landing runway 10, continue running to end of runway and fall down in the valley and broke in two pieces,” DGCA said in statement .
