Yamaha R15 crosses 1 million production mark in India

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt Ltd. has reached a significant milestone by producing over 1 million units of the Yamaha R15. Since its launch in 2008, the R15 has revolutionized the Indian motorcycle market, offering advanced technology, sporty design, and thrilling performance.

Designed for young riders, the R15 has continually evolved, making it a top choice in the premium sports bike segment. The original model introduced liquid cooling, a DiASil cylinder, and a Deltabox frame, setting new standards for performance bikes in India. Over the years, Yamaha introduced improved versions like the R15 V2.0, R15 S, and R15 V3, featuring upgrades such as an aluminum swingarm, Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), and Assist & Slipper Clutch.

In 2021, Yamaha launched the R15 V4, packed with cutting-edge features like traction control, a quick shifter, and an aerodynamic design, enhancing both performance and safety. This model continues to strengthen Yamaha’s position in the Indian market.

The 1 millionth R15 was produced at Yamaha’s Surajpur plant, emphasizing the brand’s focus on high-quality manufacturing. Over 90% of these units were sold in India, highlighting the R15’s dominance among Indian riders.
