Volvo, a truck manufacturer headquartered in Sweden, stated on Tuesday that it will introduce a long-range version of its FH Electric truck that can go up to 600 kilometres (373 miles) on a single charge.
The forthcoming model, which is slated to enter the market in the second half of 2025, caters to customers who want longer hauls by increasing battery space and enhancing the truck’s software.
Volvo Trucks, the industry leader in the production of electric trucks, stated that it will use electronic axle technology, which boosts battery capacity by merging the axle, gearbox and motor into one unit.
Jan Hjelmgren, head of product management and quality at Volvo Trucks, told Reuters that the firm was increasing its green investments, but that more political action was crucial for the broader adoption of zero-emission vehicles.
After three years of strong demand, which last year led to the highest delivery levels in over 15 years as supply chain disruptions eased, the heavy truck market in Europe is expected to slow down this year.
