Triumph Thruxton 400 spotted testing in India; Here’s what to expect

The highly anticipated Triumph Thruxton 400 has been spotted testing in India once more, and this time, the test mule looks closer to being production-ready. This 400cc cafe racer, which borrows styling cues from the iconic Thruxton 1200, is expected to launch later this year, adding another exciting option to Triumph’s lineup.

Triumph Thruxton 400 expected features

Sharing its 398cc engine with the Speed T4, Speed 400, and Scrambler 400 X, the Thruxton 400 could feature the sportier 40hp engine variant, which aligns well with its café racer DNA.

While inspired by the iconic Thruxton 1200, it remains uncertain if the globally retired nameplate will make a comeback. Some reports suggest it could be branded as the Speed 400 RS, similar to the larger Speed Twin 1200 RS.

The Thruxton 400 showcases hallmark café racer design elements, including a sleek bikini fairing, clip-on handlebars, and bar-end mirrors. Its rear section is minimalist yet distinct, differentiating it from the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. This design approach could potentially position it as a stylish, performance-oriented option within the lineup.
