
In its latest round of crash tests, the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) gave the Tata Motors electric cars, the Punch.ev and the Nexon.ev, five-star ratings. These results represent the first BNCAP safety ratings for Tata’s electric SUVs, and they were released in early 2024. The Harrier and Safari SUVs have already been reviewed by BNCAP.
The Tata Nexon.ev got 29.86 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection, obtaining a flawless five-star rating. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it received 14.26 points out of 16, while in the side movable deformable barrier test, it received 15.60 points.
The Nexon.ev received an outstanding score of 23.95 out of 24 for child occupant safety, a score of 12 out of 12 for CRS installation and a score of 9 out of 13 for vehicle assessment. The results apply to both the Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) variants. The testing was carried out in May of 2024.
Priced between ₹14.49 lakh and ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Nexon.ev rivals the Mahindra XUV400 and provides a more affordable option than the MG ZS EV.
