Tata Motors unveils new ATLAS platform for future models

The Curvv coupe-SUV, which debuted on the market today in the electric version, is the first car to feature Tata’s new ATLAS vehicle architecture. Tata Motors states that ATLAS stands for Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture.

Tata’s new platform will support its forthcoming internal combustion and electric vehicles, including SUVs.

The platform will support models ranging in length from 3.9 to 4.6 meters. It supports a variety of body designs, including SUVs, coupe SUVs, sedans and hatchbacks.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited vice president and chief product officer Mohan Savarkar stated, “The platform can accommodate multiple powertrains and full SUV capability. The architecture has an updated electric architecture with cloud platform.”

He further added, “In a world of software on wheels, the ATLAS platform, which scales in size, body style and segment, supports future technologies with an advanced electric architecture and cloud platform.”

After launch, the brand will be able to increase its addressable market share from 53 per cent to 65 percent with the help of the new Tata ATLAS platform. By the end of the decade, the company eventually aims to cater to 80 percent of the addressable market.  At present, the SUVs segment for 66 percent of Tata Motors’ overall sales. For the past three years, the Nexon has been India’s best-selling SUV.
