Tata.EV to expand India’s charging infrastructure to 400,000 charge points by 2027

TATA.ev, the driving force behind India’s electric vehicle revolution, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to transform the nation’s EV charging landscape. Building on its remarkable achievement of surpassing 200,000 EV sales, the company has set an ambitious target to expand charging infrastructure by more than doubling the number of charge points to over 400,000 by 2027.

Since 2019, TATA.ev has played a pivotal role in advancing India’s EV ecosystem, beginning with private and home charging solutions through partnerships with Tata Group companies. The company then pioneered the development of public charging networks, strategically deploying charging points in cities with the highest EV adoption rates. This effort provided critical support for early adopters, making the transition to electric mobility smoother and more convenient.

To drive the next wave of expansion, TATA.ev launched its ‘Open Collaboration’ framework in 2023, fostering strategic partnerships with Charge Point Operators and Oil Marketing Companies. This initiative significantly boosted charging infrastructure, particularly along highways, enabling seamless long-distance EV travel. In just 15 months, the number of public chargers in India skyrocketed to over 18,000. The company’s cumulative impact includes more than 1.5 lakh home chargers, 2,500 community chargers, and 750 chargers at TATA dealerships across 200+ cities.

Now, TATA.ev is taking its commitment to the next level with ‘Open Collaboration 2.0,’ a bold initiative to accelerate India’s EV charging network. With over 5 billion kilometers driven across the country, the company has gained deep insights into user needs and the optimal locations for charging infrastructure. By 2027, TATA.ev aims to establish over 400,000 charging points, ensuring a seamless EV experience for millions of users. This massive expansion will play a crucial role in making electric mobility more accessible, further cementing TATA.ev’s leadership in India’s EV transformation.
