Sony and Honda unveiled their highly anticipated Afeela 1 electric car at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, marking the debut of their joint venture’s first EV. Priced starting at $89,900 (approximately ₹77 lakh), the Afeela 1 offers two broad variants and is currently open for bookings exclusively in California. Global sales, including in the US and Japan, are expected to begin in 2026.
Afeela 1 electric vehicle features
The Afeela 1 is built on the Honda 0 Series platform and features dual electric motors delivering 482 bhp. Equipped with a 91 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Afeela 1 offers an impressive range of up to 483 km on a single charge. It also supports fast charging at speeds of up to 150 kW and is compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Measuring 4,915 mm in length with a 3,018 mm wheelbase, the Afeela 1 is designed for performance and comfort. The vehicle boasts a set of 21-inch alloy wheels and is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), using 40 sensors and cameras to ensure a safe driving experience. The car features all-wheel drive technology and offers cutting-edge AI-based voice assistants, making it an immersive tech-driven experience.
Sony’s innovations are central to the Afeela 1’s interior, with a unique sound system, personalized displays, and noise-canceling technology that promises unmatched quietness. The 3D Motion Management System improves comfort and handling, making it ideal for various road conditions.
