The Skoda Kylaq has achieved a prestigious five-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, excelling in both adult and child occupant protection. This milestone marks Skoda’s debut in the Indian crash test safety ratings. Tested on the fully loaded Prestige MT variant, Bharat NCAP confirmed the rating applies across all trims of the Kylaq.
Launched in November 2024, the Kylaq is Skoda’s first sub-4m SUV for the Indian market, built on the India-specific MQB A0 platform, dubbed MQB 27. It achieved an impressive 30.88 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection. In the frontal offset crash test, the head and neck protection for the driver and passenger were rated good, while chest protection was adequate. The side impact tests also demonstrated strong protection, with most areas receiving a “good” rating.
For child occupant protection, the Kylaq scored 45 out of 49 points. Equipped with ISOFIX mounts, the rearward-facing child seat for a three-year-old dummy received full marks for dynamic performance and child restraint system installation.
Priced between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kylaq offers standard safety features like six airbags, three-point seatbelts, electronic stability control (ESC), and seatbelt reminders. Higher trims add advanced features such as cruise control, hill hold control, and a reverse camera.
