Renault, the French automotive giant, is gearing up for a major comeback in India, the world’s third-largest car market. With an ambitious lineup of SUVs and compact electric vehicles (EVs), the company aims to regain its footing in an increasingly competitive landscape.
2025 is poised to be a pivotal year for Renault, with significant facelifts of its popular models, Kiger and Triber, setting the stage for a fresh brand image. This will be followed by the highly anticipated launches of the mid-size SUVs Duster and Bigster in 2026, showcasing Renault’s commitment to innovation and market relevance.
As per Autocar Pro, a key highlight of Renault’s strategy is the development of the Kiger EV, internally codenamed Project RJ2K5, slated for production in late 2026, indicating that it might on sale in the fiscal ending March 2027 (FY2027). Built on a dedicated EV platform, the Kiger EV is targeted at mass-market buyers, with a competitive price below ₹15 lakh. Renault is also planning an electric version of the Triber, which aims to cater to families and fleet operators.
To maintain affordability, Renault India is in discussions with Tata AutoComp for local battery sourcing. This strategic move is expected to keep costs low and enhance the accessibility of its EVs.
