With a market share of more than 30%, Ola Electric is now leading the Indian electric two-wheeler industry. However, the company is changing course and focusing on the electric motorcycle. Ola Electric is getting ready to release its first electric motorbike in the first half of fiscal year 2026 even though they have made a name for themselves with their S1 Pro, S1 Air, and S1 X electric scooters.
In its DRHP for IPO, Ola Electric stated, “We commenced delivery of the Ola S1 X+ in December 2023 and plan to begin delivering the Ola S1 X (2 kWh) and the Ola S1 X (3 kWh) by the first half of Fiscal 2025 and the new motorcycle models, Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster and Cruiser, in the first half of Fiscal 2026.”
Ola Electric hopes to eventually increase the range of electric motorcycles it offers, so this initial launch is the first step in a larger plan. This calculated move puts them in a position to attract more buyers across different segments.
Electric scooters are booming in India, but electric bikes remain a niche space with only a few startups and limited options.
