Maruti Suzuki Eeco marks 15 years of success, selling over 1.2 million units

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco, now 15 years old, has proven its staying power in India’s automotive market, with over 1.2 million units sold to date. Averaging 11,391 units monthly in 2023, it outpaces even many popular compact and midsize SUVs. Priced between ₹5.32 lakh and ₹6.58 lakh (ex-showroom), the Eeco remains a value-for-money offering across its versatile range of applications.

In FY2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 137,139 units of the Eeco, marking a 4.50% year-on-year growth. The trend continued in FY2025, with 102,520 units sold by December 2023, reflecting a 1.55% increase compared to the same period the previous year. Despite minimal updates over its lifecycle, the Eeco’s popularity endures, especially in rural markets, which account for 63% of its sales. Its practicality for cargo hauling and business use has made it a trusted choice in these areas.

The Eeco offers 13 variants, including 5-seater and 7-seater configurations, cargo versions, and even tour and ambulance models. This diverse lineup ensures the Eeco caters to personal, commercial, and emergency applications. The Eeco is powered by a reliable 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine delivering 80hp and 104Nm of torque. In its CNG avatar, the engine produces 71hp and 95Nm of torque. Both options are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Petrol variants account for 57% of total sales, while CNG models contribute 43%, reflecting its appeal among cost-conscious buyers.

While basic in terms of creature comforts, the Eeco includes essential safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and seatbelt reminders. An optional air conditioner adds convenience for passenger variants.
