The much-anticipated Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck has been spotted testing in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, signalling its journey towards production. The test mule, seen in near-production form, is based on the Mahindra Global Pik Up concept unveiled in 2023. Mahindra had confirmed that the production version would be underpinned by a next-generation ladder-frame chassis and is expected to debut in 2025.
Design and Features
The spy shots reveal a design closely resembling the Scorpio N SUV, with similar headlights, LED signatures, and alloy wheels. However, in contrast to the Global Pik Up concept’s dual-cab design, the test mule sports a single-cab layout with an extended cargo bed and a large rear overhang. Up front, the grille and bumper seem identical to the Scorpio N, unlike the concept’s redesigned fascia with a distinct grille and tow hook.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, the Scorpio N pickup is expected to pack the same 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine as the SUV, churning out 175hp and up to 400Nm of torque. Transmission options will likely include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Given its rugged, utilitarian purpose, the pickup is expected to feature four-wheel drive (4WD) with shift-on-the-fly functionality and drive modes such as Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand.
