Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML) has revealed plans to enter the electric four-wheeler commercial vehicle segment. The company announced on World EV Day that its new vehicle will be called ‘e-ZEO’, meaning “Zero Emission Option.”
The e-ZEO is scheduled to launch on October 3, 2024. It will compete in the Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) category, currently dominated by internal combustion engine vehicles.
According to MLMML, the e-ZEO features a high-voltage architecture designed for improved energy efficiency, longer range, and faster charging times. The company states these features, along with potential cost benefits, may appeal to businesses in last-mile delivery and transportation.
Suman Mishra, MD & CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, said, “The e-ZEO aligns with our purpose and global efforts to accelerate EV adoption, particularly in the sub-two-tonne category.”
This launch extends Mahindra’s electric vehicle offerings beyond its current three-wheeler range. The company, which has operations in various sectors including farm equipment and IT services, frames this move as part of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
The performance and market reception of the e-ZEO will become clearer after its launch in October.
