Powered by the same 399cc, single-cylinder engine found in the 390 Duke, the 390 SMC R in Europe produces 44.9hp, slightly lower than the India-spec 390 Duke’s 46hp. It’s expected that the India version will also deliver the full 46hp.

Weighing just 154 kg (wet), the 390 SMC R is significantly lighter than its sibling, the 390 Duke, by 11kg. The bike’s sleek design draws inspiration from the larger 690 SMC R, featuring an upright riding position and a single-piece seat that blends seamlessly into the 9-litre fuel tank. This tank is smaller compared to the Duke’s 15-litre capacity but aids in the bike’s light weight and agility.

A 4.2-inch rectangular TFT display serves as the bike’s command center, offering Bluetooth connectivity for music, calls, and turn-by-turn navigation. It also allows riders to switch between three riding modes: Rain, Street, and Race, enhancing the riding experience for various conditions.

The 390 SMC R’s suspension setup includes a WP USD fork with 230mm of travel and a monoshock with the same travel, both adjustable for rebound and compression. The braking system features Bybre radial calipers and discs, offering superior stopping power compared to axial calipers on the KTM Adventure 390 and Enduro R. Additionally, the bike comes with switchable rear ABS and supermoto mode, making it highly versatile.

For tyres, the European model comes equipped with Michelin Power 6 rubber (110mm front, 150mm rear) mounted on 17-inch wheels. It remains to be seen whether the Indian variant will feature similar tyres or a different setup.
