The Kia Syros is set to become a strong contender in India’s rapidly growing sub-compact SUV market, competing with popular models like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet.
Slated for launch on December 19, the Syros is already generating buzz with select Kia dealerships accepting unofficial bookings.
Here’s what to expect in the Kia Syros SUV
Design and Features
Kia has teased the Syros with images showcasing a progressive, unconventional design. The SUV will feature striking vertically stacked LED headlights, accompanied by vertical LED daytime running lights. Other key exterior highlights include large window panels, a flat roof, flared wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles, and high-positioned L-shaped LED taillights. The cabin is expected to follow a dual-tone theme, likely influenced by the Sonet and Seltos, with a new two-spoke steering wheel. The Syros will also boast a dual-display unit combining the touchscreen infotainment system and instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and wireless charging.
Engine and Performance
Kia is expected to offer the Syros with the same engine options found in the Sonet, including a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission choices may include a five-speed manual, six-speed manual, six-speed iMT, seven-speed DCT, and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Safety Features
On the safety front, the Kia Syros is likely to come equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, a reverse camera, and more to ensure a secure driving experience.
