Kia India has made some notable changes to the powertrain and variant offerings for the MY2025 models of the Sonet, Seltos, and Carens. The most significant update is the removal of the diesel-iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) powertrain option from all three models, although the iMT gearbox continues to be available in turbo-petrol variants.
Sonet MY2025 Updates: The diesel-iMT powertrain in the Sonet was previously offered in the HTX and HTX+ trims. However, Kia has discontinued the HTX+ trim and introduced a new HTK+(O) variant, positioned between the HTK(O) and HTX trims. The new HTK+(O) trim is available with both the 1.2-litre petrol-MT and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol-iMT options. Additionally, the Sonet’s Gravity Edition has been removed from the line-up. Prices for the Sonet now range from Rs 8.00 lakh to Rs 15.70 lakh.
Seltos MY2025 Changes: In the Seltos, the mid-spec HTX trim, which previously offered the diesel-iMT powertrain, no longer has this option. The Gravity Edition has also been discontinued. To make up for this, Kia has introduced three new trims—HTK(O), HTK+(O), and HTX(O)—along with some feature reshuffling. The popular GT Line is now only available in the fully loaded GTX+ trim, as the GTX trim has been removed. The price range for the Seltos is now between Rs 11.13 lakh and Rs 20.51 lakh.
Carens MY2025 Updates: In the Carens, the diesel-iMT powertrain has been removed, and the Luxury trim has been delisted in both six- and seven-seater configurations. Additionally, the petrol-iMT powertrain is now available in fewer trims, and the diesel-AT option is available only in the Prestige Plus (O) trim. The previously available X-Line trim, offered with both turbo-petrol-DCT and diesel-AT, is now limited to the turbo-petrol-DCT version. Despite these changes, the Carens’ Gravity Edition remains part of the line-up. Prices for the Carens range from Rs 10.60 lakh to Rs 19.70 lakh.
