Hyundai Creta Electric launched in India; Prices start at Rs 17.99 lakh

Hyundai has launched its first mass-market electric SUV for India, the Hyundai Creta Electric, with prices starting from Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested buyers can explore the vehicle at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Delhi.

The Creta Electric is available in five variants: Executive, Smart, Smart (O), Premium, and Excellence, with pre-bookings open for Rs 25,000. The SUV offers two battery options – 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The smaller battery provides a claimed range of 390km, while the Long Range (LR) variant offers an impressive 473km. The LR variant boasts a 0-100kmph acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. The electric motor on the front axle generates 171hp and 255Nm of torque for the LR variant, while the smaller battery gets a 135hp motor.

Charging times are efficient, with the larger battery reaching 10-80% charge in 58 minutes using a DC fast charger. An 11kW AC home charger takes around 4 hours for a full charge.

The Creta Electric maintains a similar silhouette to its ICE counterpart, with unique touches like pixel-like detailing on the front bumper, aero alloy wheels, and a rear bumper with matching pixel accents. The car’s charging port is cleverly hidden behind the front logo and features a multi-colour surround light.

Inside, the cabin shares similarities with the regular Creta but adds sustainable materials for seat upholstery and advanced tech features, including twin 10.25-inch screens, a 8-speaker Bose audio system, and Bluelink in-car connectivity. The SUV also offers features like single-pedal driving, vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging, and in-car payments at charging stations.

Safety features include a Level 2 ADAS suite, six airbags, 360-degree cameras, and more, making the Creta Electric a comprehensive package for eco-conscious drivers.
