The Ford Ranger, based on the Ford Endeavour, has achieved an impressive 5-star safety rating in the Latin NCAP crash tests. The pick-up truck demonstrated outstanding performance in adult occupant protection, scoring 93%, while also excelling in child occupant protection with a score of 90%. The pedestrian protection rating stood at 75%, and safety assist features earned a remarkable 92%.
In the frontal crash test, the Ford Ranger provided excellent protection to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck, with good results in the knee, chest, and tibia areas. The footwell area was rated stable, and the vehicle’s bodyshell was deemed stable, capable of withstanding further loadings. Side impact tests showed strong protection for the head, abdomen, chest, and pelvis. The side pole impact test also yielded good results for the head and pelvis, with adequate protection for the abdomen and chest. Marginal protection was noted for the driver’s neck in rear impact conditions.
Equipped with a host of safety features, the Ford Ranger includes front airbags, knee airbags, curtain airbags, belt pretensioners, and belt load limiters. The vehicle also comes with ISOFIX mounts, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and seatbelt reminders, ensuring a comprehensive safety package. Additionally, the Ranger’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system meets Latin NCAP’s high standards, further enhancing driver and passenger protection.
