Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stated that the company plans to enter the Indian market “as soon as humanly possible” following a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Indian government extended an invitation to Musk to explore investment opportunities in electric mobility and the commercial space sector. Musk acknowledged the importance of complying with local regulations and expressed a commitment to providing the “freest speech” possible within the legal framework.
He praised Prime Minister Modi and expressed confidence in India’s potential, stating that the country has more promise than any other large nation. Tesla has been engaged in talks with Indian officials regarding plans to establish a manufacturing base for electric vehicles and batteries in the country.
Musk also expressed his desire to bring SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service to India. The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Musk is seen as a significant development in strengthening bilateral relations between India and the United States.
