The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is now available in India for Rs 16.50 lakh (ex-showroom). By the end of July, the bike should be ready for delivery. This is the only single-cylinder Ducati model that was previously revealed to the global market. The same was officially teased last week on the company’s social media accounts for its launch in India.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono’s 659cc liquid-cooled Superquadro Mono engine is its most notable feature. With its 77.5 bhp and 63 Nm of torque, this remarkable one-cylinder engine holds the title of being the most powerful single-cylinder engine in the world. It comes with a slip-and-assist clutch and a six-speed gearbox.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono’s aggressive and compact appearance gives it a Supermotard racing style. Major design features include an LED headlight with a double “C” light profile, five-spoke alloy wheels with a dramatic “Y” shape and dual side-mounted exhausts. Its powerful and dynamic appearance is further enhanced by the high and flat seat, the sharp tail and the prominent front mudguard.
Beneath its exterior, the Hypermotard 698 Mono is equipped with a sturdy steel trellis frame that is connected to an aluminum swingarm and a steel-tube subframe. An adjustable Marzocchi USD fork up front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear to handle suspension duties. The bike comes with Brembo M4.32 brake calipers in the front, which grip a 330mm disc.
