Could the Force Gurkha get an automatic option soon? Force Motors reacts

It is unsure that the Force Gurkha SUV will have an automated gearbox very soon. After media rumours suggested that the Mahindra Thar, Maruti Jimny contender, will receive an automatic gearbox option from JATCO, a Japan-based manufacturer well-known for its CVT transmission units worldwide, Force Motors issued a statement. According to Force Motors, there are currently no plans to add any new gearbox options to the recently released Gurkha SUV.

Earlier this year, Force Motors unveiled an updated three-door Gurkha SUV along with a brand-new five-door model. The Gurkha’s five-door model costs ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom), while the smaller model costs ₹16.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

Denying media reports that claim Force Motors will provide a torque converter gearbox with seven speeds, the automaker stated that it has no plans of updating the current models. “Development of new vehicle variants, especially involving major changes like an automatic transmission, could require a timeline of 18-24 months to ensure we meet out high standards of quality and performance,” reads a statement shared by Force Motor on its social media accounts.

According to a statement from Force Motors, it ‘cannot confirm’ any news at this time about the Gurkha possibly getting an automatic transmission.
