Stellantis recently announced its global plans for its latest joint venture with China’s Leapmotor, promising to deliver the brand’s electric vehicles to global markets. While Stellantis and Leapmotor want to increase their presence in many European nations this year, the Chinese manufacturer has also declared goals to enter the Indian market and introduce two new electric cars by the end of 2024.
Later this year, Leapmotor International, which has its headquarters in Amsterdam, will introduce two new offerings to the Indian market: the T03 hatchback and the C10 electric SUV. Leapmotor stated that it will be expanding not only into Europe and India but also into MENA, Africa and Australasia.
With a 265 km (WLTP) range, the T03 hatchback is roughly the same size as the Tata Tiago EV. It will also compete against the MG Comet EV and Stellantis’ own Citroen e-C3 hatchback. In the meantime, the five-seater C10 electric SUV will compete in the segment with the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and similar vehicles. Leapmotor has a five-star rating in the e-NCAP crash test results and a range of 420 km (WLTP) on a single charge on the C10.
The T03 and C10 will merely be the start of the brand’s worldwide aspirations with more products slated for release in 2027. More details will be revealed in the following months.
