BYD India is gearing up to launch the Sealion 7, a stylish electric coupe-SUV, by March 2025, as reported by Autocar India. Prior to its official pricing announcement, the Sealion 7 will make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2025, which begins on January 17. Alongside the Sealion 7, BYD will showcase its existing electric lineup, including the Seal sedan, Atto 3 SUV, and BYD eMax 7 MPV.
Already a hit in China and select European markets, the BYD Sealion 7 is an affordable alternative to the Tesla Model Y. Its design is heavily inspired by the BYD Seal sedan, featuring sleek headlamps, connected taillights, and sporty bumpers. Inside, the standout feature is a large rotating touchscreen, a hallmark of BYD’s EVs.
Built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Sealion 7 offers two battery options – 82.5kWh and 91.3kWh, delivering a maximum range of up to 502km. The SUV measures approximately 4.8 meters in length and is available in FWD and RWD configurations in global markets.
In India, the Sealion 7 will be positioned above the BYD Seal sedan (priced at ₹41 lakh, ex-showroom). While it won’t have direct competitors, it will rival premium EVs like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
