The Bajaj Chetak, one of the top contenders in the electric two-wheeler market, is expected to receive a significant update in December 2024, as reported by Autocar India. After a slow start following its 2020 debut, the Chetak has steadily gained popularity, securing a consistent spot near the top of the electric scooter sales chart.
The upcoming update aims to enhance the scooter’s practicality, especially in terms of storage space. Competitors like the Ather 450X, Ola S1, and TVS iQube have larger boot spaces, prompting Bajaj to rework the Chetak’s chassis. By shifting the battery pack under the floorboard, Bajaj will free up more space for luggage, addressing a key area of concern for many riders.
While the new design may slightly increase the battery capacity, a major boost in range is unlikely. Currently, the Chetak offers an IDC range of 123-137 km, depending on the model.
Cosmetic changes are expected to be minimal, with Bajaj likely to stick with the successful design and introduce new colour options to keep the scooter fresh. The updated Chetak will remain a stylish, reliable option in the electric two-wheeler market.
Expected to launch in mid-December, the new Bajaj Chetak will likely maintain its pricing, which currently ranges from Rs 96,000 to Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
