Amazon, Flipkart and other E-commerce websites to resume full operations
E-Commerce websites to resume ‘non-essential’ deliveries in red zones other than the containment areas, thus recommence full operations.
Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Lenskart, Nykaa, Firstcry and other e-commerce websites to resume full operations following the guidelines issued by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). These guidelines issued on Sunday said, ‘all other activities will be permitted, except those which are specifically prohibited. However, in containment zones, only essential activities shall be allowed’.
These guidelines come as a relief after two months of lurch operations after the commencement of first lockdown on March 25. At that time they were allowed to deliver only essentials like groceries.
Srinivas Mothey, senior vice-president at Paytm Mall expressed his gratitude for the government’s decision. He said, “We thank the government for taking the decision for allowing the delivery of non-essentials in red zones across the country. This move will help us deliver to most of the metro cities which presently fall in the red zones. The government’s decision will also help in opening up supplies of consumer electronics from warehouses which are in the red zones.”
He hopes for more relaxation in the following weeks. He believes interstate movement of non-essentials will scale up the e-commerce activity.
Snapdeal’s spokesperson quipped, “We welcome the guidelines announced by the MHA, which pave the way for a broader resumption of economic activities across most parts of India. At Snapdeal, we are ready and equipped to now start serving customers all across India – in red, green and orange zones – by providing them access to the entire selection of millions of products.”
“This is also the moment that will enable lakhs of medium and small online sellers to start rebuilding their businesses as they serve the needs of users in cities and towns across India,” he added.
Presently, non-essentials are delivered in green and orange zones. Also cab services like Ola and Uber are not the list of prohibited activities. These services were suspended for past 2 months.
