We will fight with all of our strength in UP Polls: AIMIM chief

Hyderabad, Jan 8 (UNI) All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said that his party has taken up the challenge for Elections 2022 in Uttar Pradesh.

Taking to micro blogging platform twitter, Owaisi said: “Inshallah, we will fight with all our strength in UP.

Hope that @ECISVEEP will review its guidelines post-15the.” He added that ECI must be mindful of the digital divide in India, especially in Uttar Pradesh.

According to NITI Aayog, UP had only 39 internet subscribers per 100 people, one of the lowest in India, he tweeted and said according to NSS, only 4 percent of rural households in UP had a computer. Only 11 per cent had an internet facility. Total 19 per cent of UP’s richest had an internet facility. Only 6 percent of the poorest did.

5o per cent of women in urban UP have never used the internet and 76 per cent of rural women in UP have never used the internet, said AIMIM chief.

Only 54 per cent of men in urban UP have used the internet at least once and only 46 per cent of women in UP have a mobile phone for their own use, he tweeted.

The share of OBC Muslims in UP government jobs is lower than their share in OBC population while on the other hand, dominant case non-Muslim OBCs are over-represented in government services, he said.

Their report is empirical proof that Muslims in UP were not appeased but exploited, he alleged.

UP’s Muslims deserve better than this. Compared to forward caste Hindus, the average age of death was 6 years lower for Muslims, he said in tweet.
