Tamil Nadu Elections 2021: “DMK tries to gain votes on communal basis,” says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Union Defence Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh today addressed a public rally in Thalli, Tamil Nadu.

While campaigning for elections in Thalli, Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, March 31, the Union Defence Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh ahead legislative assembly elections in the state.

Rajnath Singh, while addressing the rally, blamed DMK for gaining votes on communal basis. He said, “The DMK tries to gain votes on communal basis. But the BJP does not do politics of caste, creed, and religion. We do politics of humanity and justice. We firmly believe in justice for all and appeasement of none.”

Rajnath Singh also praised the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa for her support to the former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said, “We can never forget that the first person to support our former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to form the govt was Jayalalitha Ji. Inspired by the ideals of MGR, we will work for the empowerment of weaker sections of society,” as quoted by news agency ANI.

The Union Minister also shared some glimpse of his rally in Thalli constituency on Twitter and wrote, “The people here want the double engine government for growth and prosperity of the state.” Obviously, by saying ‘double engine government’, he meant to the alliance of BJP with AIADMK.

The sixteenth legislative assembly election is to be held in a single phase on April 6, 2021. There are 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. The results for the same will be declared on May 2, 2021.
