Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma gets security from Delhi Police

Officials said on Tuesday that the Delhi Police had provided security to suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. And her family after a FIR was filed on a complaint that she was receiving death threats because of her controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad.

“Delhi Police has provided security to suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and her family. After an FIR was registered on a complaint that she was getting death threats. For her controversial religious remarks”. According to an official statement by the Delhi Police.

“Sharma and her family have been provided police security. After she alleged that she has been receiving threats and was being harassed over her remarks”. An official said.

The BJP suspended Sharma and expelled its Delhi unit media head Naveen Kumar Jindal on Sunday. As the row over their alleged derogatory remarks about Prophet Mohammad erupted, prompting protests from Muslim countries.

In the midst of Muslim protests and harsh reactions from countries such as Kuwait, Qatar, and Iran, the BJP issued a statement declaring that it respects all religions and strongly condemns insults to religious personalities.

Mumbai Police to summon to Nupur Sharma

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey said on Monday that Nupur Sharma, a former BJP national spokesperson, will be summoned to record her statement in connection with the FIR filed against her for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad.

“An FIR has already been registered against Nupur Sharma in Pydhonie police station”. Pandey said at a press conference at the Mumbai Police headquarters. We will summon her to record her statement in accordance with the law, and the legal procedure will be followed.”

On May 28, the Mumbai Police registered a case against Nupur Sharma. Moreover, the then-BJP spokesperson, for allegedly making objectionable remarks about Prophet Muhammad. Which was during a television news debate, based on a complaint filed by Irfan Sheikh, joint secretary of Raza Academy.

In addition, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) defended Nupur Sharma. Who was expelled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for making controversial remarks about minorities. Also, stated that the court will decide whether her remarks were legal or illegal.
