SP leader Azam Khan’s referred to Lucknow Hospital after facing breathing difficulties

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been referred to the Medanta Hospital in Lucknow after his health condition became bad on Monday. Khan who is currently lodged in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur jail had been checked early in the morning by doctors from the district hospital, Jailer R S Yadav of Sitapur District Jail told the news agency PTI. He was reportedly facing difficulty in breathing.

The jailer further told that Khan had been escorted by the police to Lucknow’s Medanta Hospital at 2 PM on Monday, PTI reported.

The senior SP leader from Uttar Pradesh had remained hospitalized for two months earlier as well after he was infected with COVID-19 in prison. He suffered lung and kidney-related complications during his hospital stay and had to be put on oxygen support. Khan was discharged just a week back.

Notably, Azam Khan, along with his son Abdullah Azam and spouse Tanzeen Fatima had been jailed in February 2020 following multiple allegations of cheating. He is a member of Parliament(MP) from Rampur constituency and served as a minister in Akhilesh Yadav led Uttar Pradesh government till 2017.
