AAP’s Bhagwant Mann swung into action as soon as he took over the post of Punjab CM. The CM on Thursday announced the launch of an anti-corruption helpline, he asserted that this helpline would be started on March 23, Martyrs’ Day.

People of the state will be able to register complaints of corruption through WhatsApp. Mann tweeted that “On the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh Ji, we will release the anti-corruption helpline number. That will be my personal WhatsApp number. If anyone asks you for a bribe, send me the recording (video/audio) of the incident. Strict action will be taken against the corrupt. Corruption will no longer work in Punjab.”

Mann asserted that 99% of people are honest, and only 1% ruins the system. He said that I always stand with honest officers. No leader will harass any officer. Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal have called this decision historic. He said that corruption will no longer run in Punjab.

Meanwhile, before this announcement was made, Mann had tweeted, “A big decision will be taken today in the interest of the people of Punjab. No one in the history of Punjab would have taken such a decision to date. I will announce it shortly.”

Bhagwant Mann took oath as the Chief Minister on Wednesday after the massive victory of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state. In his address just after the oath, Mann had said, “Our party’s government will work to address issues like unemployment, corruption and the plight of farmers. I promise that the condition of government schools and hospitals in the state would be improved as the AAP government has done in Delhi.”
