Opposition will be wiped out: Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday told UNI that the next five phases will seal the fate of the opposition.

By Manoj Bhadra Lucknow, Feb 19 (UNI) Exuding confidence that the first two phases of the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh have already paved way for a record mandate for the BJP, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday told UNI that the next five phases will seal the fate of the opposition. “The ongoing elections are about 80:20 in ratio, which means BJP is going to get 80 per cent of the voters’ support, while only 20 per cent will go to the humdrum opposition. “Nationalism, development and good governance are the prime agenda for the voters in this election. “Dynasty politics and polarisation have no place in UP politics and voters have rejected such dramas,” Yogi said. In the interview to UNI here on Friday, Yogi Adityanath, claimed that since 2014, the political agenda of the country and UP has gone a sea change. Now development and good governance along with better law and order and a strong economy boosts the confidence of the people and it is the double engine government of the BJP in various states that have made it possible, he said. “The people have outright rejected the party and their leaders who talk about caste, community and even their past works. “What we have done in five years, no other government has done this after Independence. “Why Akhilesh Yadav or BSP or Congress were shy to read out their achievements. “It shows that the opposition too were supporting the works the BJP that has been done in the past five years,” he said. He said that the opposition rakes up the unemployment issue, but can they refer to any data of any renowned agency. “The CMIE data says that the unemployment rate in UP is just 3 per cent, which is the lowest among the majority of states which contradicts the opposition’s claim,” he said while referring to the CIME report of February 18. The CM said the BJP government has worked without any discrimination and with the ideology of “Saabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. His government has served the people with free food grains, houses, toilets, electricity connections and LPG, Yogi said. While on the other hand, Samajwadi Party, only cared about their own benefits and handed over the state’s dignity to criminals and terrorists during their regime. “The previous SP government headed by Akhilesh Yadav indulged in politics of appeasement, casteism, corruption, terror and fear. “The criminals used to roam freely on the streets without fear,” he said. Asserting that electricity was only provided on certain festivals to please a ‘particular community’, the CM said that, “For us, every district holds equal importance, today be it Holi, Diwali, Eid or Rakshabandhan, every house gets electricity, there is no discrimination done in providing electricity to people.” Stressing on the presence of environment of safety and security for the state to develop, Yogi Adityanath said, “Development plans can only be realised when there is an environment of safety. No place can develop where riots happen, curfews are imposed or an atmosphere of terror exists. “Rule of law means investment, industries bloom through investment and where there are industries, the youth gets employment and once the youth is employed, the place develops,” he said, adding that, “We will make UP as the country’s number one economy in no time.” Highlighting “the Covid management in the country and the state under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, the CM said that the Covid management model set by Uttar Pradesh before the world is being lauded widely. During the Covid pandemic, the double-engine government gave double-dose of vaccine as well as double dose of ration, he said. Slamming the SP for always ‘misleading’ the public, and defaming the state, Yogi stated “The SP leaders and workers were not seen anywhere during the Covid pandemic. Against that indifference, the double-engine government at the Centre and the state used the money and resources to administer free vaccines to people, provide free treatment and feed the poor with double-dose of ration.” Adityanath said during the Samajwadi Party’s five years’ tenure only 18,000 people were given houses under the PMAY scheme while his government provided houses to 43.50 lakh people and constructed over 2.61 crore toilets in the state, as well as provided pure drinking water through the “Har Ghar Nal Yojna”. Talking about the selection of the BJP candidates for the state assembly poll, the CM made it clear that all the candidates were selected on the basis of their popularity and peoples’ choice and nothing else. Reacting to the party making him the CM face when he was not at all in the race for the post before 2017 elections, Yogi Adityanath said,” I am just a common worker of the BJP and I am highly obliged to the party for showing such faith in me.” “I have tried my best to serve the state during the past five years and will continue to do so,” he said.
