Sunil Jakhar, a former chief of the Congress’ Punjab branch, has joined the BJP, just days after leaving the grand old party. Mr. Jakhar has already visited with BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi. The Congress leadership recently issued a show-cause notice to the former Congress leader for his comments towards former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. According to sources, Mr Jakhar is expected to win a Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab.
Earlier Navjot Singh Sidhu have also said that “the congress should not loose #suniljakhar… is an asset worth his weight in gold… Any differences can be resolved on the table.”

He expressed regret for parting connections with the Congress. Which he referred to as “family,” and claimed he was ignored. Because he pointed out that the party could not treat Punjab in percentages or divide people by caste. While on stage with Mr Nadda, he stated, “You can remove Sunil Jakhar from a party post, but you can’t quiet him.”
“My family has been affiliated with the Democratic Party for three generations, dating back to 1972. “I considered it family”. He stated, stating that he left Congress due to “basic difficulties,”. Not a personal feud “with the gathering
JP Nadda, who personally went on stage to induct the former Congress veteran into the BJP. Thus, made it clear that he would play a key role in Punjab for the party.
Mr. Jakhar is a well-known political figure in Punjab and is allegedly liked by all political parties. After Captain Amarinder Singh joined with the BJP, Mr Jakhar is the BJP’s second significant grab. He is expected to assist the party in the next assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.
Mr Jakhar said “Goodbye and good luck, Congress” in a Facebook live video after blistering criticism of former party colleagues who led the effort against him while the party was attending a three-day brainstorming session in Rajasthan.
“You did not sever ties with me, you broke my heart. You issued a notice, were you all ashamed to talk to me? I would have given all the answers,” he had said in the live video.
Former Punjab Congress chairman Navjot Singh Sidhu responded to Mr Jakhar’s statements by tweeting that the party should not lose him. “The Congress should not loose (sic) #sunilkjakhar …. Is an asset worth his weight in gold …. Any differences can be resolved on the table,” he said.
