DVAC conducts raids against former TN minister M R Vijayabhaskar in disproportionate assets case

The investigation agency has lodged a case in Chennai against the AIADMK leader for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets during his ministerial tenure.

Vigilance raids are being conducted at the home and office of former transport minister of Tamil Nadu M R Vijayabhaskar by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC). A team of the DVAC comprising of four deputy superintendents of police started the raids early in the morning at twenty locations in Karur and one place in Chennai.

The investigation agency has lodged a case in Chennai against the AIADMK leader for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets during his ministerial tenure. The DVAC has also received complaints that Vijayabhaskar favoured a particular company by forcing lorry owners to buy equipment like reflective stickers from it, according to a report by The Times of India.

M R Vijayabhaskar was a Member of the Legislative Assembly(MLA) in the Tamil Nadu assembly till May 2021 where he represented the Karur constituency. He served as the Transport Minister in the Edappadi K. Palaniswami led AIADMK government. Vijayabhaskar lost the assembly elections this year to V Senthil Balaji of the DMK.
