BJP mum on JD(U)’s demand for 12 seats for Council election

President of Bihar unit of BJP Sanjay Jaiswal on Tuesday maintained stoic silence on demand of JD(U) for 12 seats in seat sharing arrangement for elections in 24 seats of Bihar Legislative Council from local bodies.

Patna, Jan 11 (UNI) President of Bihar unit of BJP Sanjay Jaiswal on Tuesday maintained stoic silence on demand of JD(U) for 12 seats in seat sharing arrangement for elections in 24 seats of Bihar Legislative Council from local bodies.

Jaiswal while interacting with media persons said that issue of seat sharing for elections in 24 seats of Bihar Legislative Council from local bodies would be decided between leadership of both the parties.

When asked about demand of 12 seats raised by parliamentary board chairman of JD(U) Upendra Kushwaha, he avoided reply, saying he would comment on statement of national or state JD(U) president.

Earlier, Kushwaha had said that both JD(U) and BJP had been sharing seats on fifty-fifty basis for 2019 Lok Sabha elections and 2020 Bihar Assembly elections.

It was true that no decision had been taken for seat sharing for Bihar Legislative Councile elections but fifty-fifty sharing had been the basis for contesting as alliance partners in earlier elections, and it was to be maintained if no new formula was finalised on the issue, he added.
