Bihar’s senior Congress leader Sadanand Singh passes away

For the last two months, Sadanand was ill and was admitted to the hospital in Patna. Today morning he took his last breath.

Bihar’s senior Congress leader Sadanand Singh passed away on 8 September 2021, Morning. He was a nine-time MLA from Kahalgaon Vidhan Sabha of Bhagalpur district. Once he was also the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and a minister in the state government. Sadanand Singh was known as a strong leader of Congress. From the last two most Sadanand was ill and was admitted to the hospital in Patna.

He was originally from the Bhagalpur district. Till the year 2020, he was an MLA from Kahalgaon. After that, he retired from politics. In the Bihar assembly elections held in the year 2020, he got his son Shubhanand Mukesh’s ticket from Congress from Kahalgaon. However, he got lost by BJP’s Pawan Kumar Yadav with more than one lakh votes.

Sadanand Singh had studied from Timanvi to B.Com, LLB. He did his early education from Sharda Pathshala in Kahalgaon. From where he completed his matriculation. He was in Congress from the very beginning and was brought into congress by Bhagwat Jha Azad. He was active in politics since 1969.  For the first time in 1972, he became an MLA and after this, he remained MLA for four consecutive days. After this, he was defeated twice by RJD candidate Mahesh Prasad Mandal.

In the year 1977, there was resentment in the whole country against Congress. Despite this, he did not lose the election of Kahalgaon. His death was mourned by people of all classes and parties. He was the leader of the people.

Bihar Congress chief Madan Mohan Jha said by tweet “political era has come to an end”.

“Today my old friend left me. Sadanand Babu left us and left. May God give peace to his soul and strength to his family to bear the loss.”Former Bihar Chief Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi said in a tweet.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said the senior Congress leader was a “skilled politician”.
