UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson officially resigns

Boris Johnson has officially resigned as the prime minister of the United Kingdom after 50 Ministers abandoned the government and left it dangling against the majority demanding his resignation.

Boris Johnson, who recently faced uproar over the party gate scandal, has officially resigned as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

United Kingdom comprises of four countries. Which are England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Boris Johnson was the former incumbent prime minister to these.

Earlier, 50 Ministers resigned from his Cabinet leaving his government. Moreover, leaving him dangling against a massive uproar that demanded his resignation at the earliest. Eight ministers, including two secretaries of state, have resigned in the past couple of hours.

UK PM Boris Johnson has been facing this brunt since the party gate scandal broke out. And created a massive debate in the UK Parliament. Johnson came to power in 2019, gathering support from all parts of the UK that lacked support for the Conservative Party.

Earlier Rishi Sunak, who was the Chancellor of the Exchequer resigned. However, with Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. They both each submitted letters of resignation to the then incumbent prime minister. Specifically, withdrawing support and confidence from his government due to differences in both agenda and opinions.

Nadhim Zahawi, an MP for Stratford, had tweeted urging UK PM Boris Johnson to resign. “Prime Minister: this is not sustainable and it will only get worse. For you, for the Conservative Party and most importantly of all the country. You must do the right thing and go now.”
