Sachin Pilot removed from the office of Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, 102 MLAs voted for his removal

The Rajasthan Congress, on Tuesday, removed Sachin Pilot from the position of the Deputy Chief Minister and the party’s state unit president. The decision has been taken by the Congress party after the much ongoing brawl between Pilot and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

The disciplinary action towards Pilot was taken because of his inability to show up at the Congress legislative Party (CLP) meeting today. It has also been reported that a lot of people tried to convince him to turn up today which include the running president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. However, Pilot, along with two other party members failed to show up at the meeting today.

This decision was approved by a unanimous vote of 102 MLAs who were present at the party meeting this morning, happening at Fairmont Hotel, Jaipur.

The former Deputy CM had also missed the earlier session of the meeting which was held at Chief Minister Gehlot’s residence on Monday. Apart from Pilot, eighteen other members did not attend the Monday’s party meeting as well.

In response to the sacking order by the Rajasthan Congress, Sachin Pilot tweeted “Truth can be harassed, not defeated”.

The Rajasthan in-charge of the All India Congress Committee, Avinash Pande, told the reporters that a second chance was being given to Pilot and his ally MLAs and they should ideally turn up for Tuesday’s meeting. “While expressing your faith in the ideology and values of the congress, please make your presence felt and strengthen the hands of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi”, he said in a tweet as per India TV.
