Pranab Mukherjee left rich legacy of old-school politics, three children, countless friends across parties and a diary—the only chronicle of his life. Mukherjee was born in Mirati, a nondescript village in undivided Bengal on December 11, 1935. He served as a president of India from 2012 to 2017. Apart from this, he held various posts during his political career like Defence Minister finance minister and was close to various Prime Ministers. His death outtpoured grief across the political spectrum.
