Kingdom of Bhutan has conferred its highest civilian award Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo on Prime Minister Narendra Modi adding one more feather into his cap. This award is to acknowledge PM Modi’s , “unconditional friendship and support Modiji extended over the years and particularly during pandemic”, said a social media post from the Bhutan Prime Minister”.

PM Lotay Tshering added in the post, “Much deserving! Congratulations from the people of Bhutan”.

PM Tshering through his twitter wrote “Overjoyed to hear His Majesty pronounce Your Excellency Modiji’s name for the highest civilian decoration, Order of the Druk Gyalpo”.

PM Tshering also congratulated the people of his country on 114th National Day of Bhutan.

The Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo or the order of The Druke Gyalpo was established in 2008 to honour those whose dedicated their lives to serving Bhutan’s nation and people.

Diplomatic relations between India and bhutan were established in 1968 with the establishment of special office  of India in Thimpu. Goverment of India has consistently supported the socio- economic development of Bhutan.

During the pandemic India supplied 5.5 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Bhutan according to the data published by Ministry of External Affairs of India to which PM Tshering  also expressed his gratitude to the Indian PM.

PM Modi has also been the recipients of the highest civilian honours in UAE, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Maldives, Bahrain and Russia in the previous years.
