Maharashtra’s new CM, Eknath Shinde’s life before the rebellion

Eknath Shinde has been elected consecutively for 4 terms in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.

Eknath Sambhaji Shinde, until he was at the epicentre of major political unrest was a Maharashtra State Government Cabinet Minister – PWD (MSRDC, Public Undertaking) from Government Of Maharashtra and current Member of Legislative Assembly from Kopri-Pachpakhadi (Vidhan Sabha constituency) of Maharashtra, as a member of Shiv Sena; one of 288 members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

He has been elected consecutively for 4 terms in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.

Eknath Shinde’s life before the rebellion

Shinde was born on 9 February, 1964 in Satara. At an early age, he came to Thane and completed his education till the 11th standard from Mangala High School and Junior College. He was unable to complete his formal education as he had to start working in order to support his family.

At a certain point in time he also worked as an auto driver in Thane City. He joined Shiv Sena in the year 1980 after being awestruck by  Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray.

He has a wife named Lata Shinde. And a son named Dr. Shrikant Shinde who is an orthopaedic surgeon. Who got elected as a Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from the Kalyan constituency. Eknath Shinde, immediately after joining Shiv Sena took part in many agitations. Such as the Maharashtra – Karnataka Agitation over the status of Belgauvi. After which he was sentenced to imprisonment for 40 days.

He is widely known for his aggressive approach towards issues of public interest and also being a key Sena leader from the Thane-Palghar region.

Eknath Shinde was swear on as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra today.
