Anil Dhirubhai Ambani (born June 4, 1959) is an Indian business tycoon who serves as the chairman and managing director of the Reliance Group, formerly known as the Reliance ADA Group. The Reliance Group was formed in 2006 after demerging from Reliance Industries Limited. As the head of the Reliance Group, Ambani oversees multiple publicly listed companies under its umbrella. These include Reliance Capital, Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power, and the formerly operational Reliance Communications.

Reliance Infrastructure Limited is an Indian private company that operates in the power generation, infrastructure, construction, and defense sectors. Its current offerings and operations encompass these varied verticals within India’s private sector domain.

Reliance Power

Reliance Power, initially called Reliance Energy Generation Limited, was established to develop, build, operate, and maintain power projects in India and international markets. It has the largest collection of thermal and renewable energy power projects in the private sector in India.  Its core business involves the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of power projects both within India and in international markets.

Reliance Communications

Reliance Communications Limited is an Indian telecommunication company based in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. It provided mobile voice services as well as 2G, 3G, and 4G data services across its network. The popular network provider in India, went bankrupt in February 2019 as it could not sell its assets to repay its debts. The company had assets worth Rs.18,000 crores but outstanding debts of Rs.50,000 crores.

Reliance Naval and Engineering

Reliance Naval and Engineering, formerly known as Reliance Defense and Engineering Limited, is headquartered in Mumbai and is involved in shipbuilding and heavy industries. It has one of the largest engineering infrastructures in the country and is the first private company to receive a contract and license for building warships in India.

It has undergone several name changes over the years. Originally known as Pipavav Shipyard Limited and Pipavav Defence & Offshore Engineering Company Limited, it was later renamed Reliance Defence & Engineering Limited before taking on its current name, Reliance Naval and Engineering Limited.

Reliance Entertainment Private Limited

Reliance Entertainment Pvt Ltd is an Indian company that manages the media and entertainment business of the Reliance Group. It deals with content creation and distribution across various platforms. Originally established in 2005 as two separate entities – Reliance Big Entertainment and BIG Pictures, the two companies merged in 2009 under the name Reliance BIG Pictures. A year later, in 2010, the company was renamed Reliance Entertainment. As a division of the larger Reliance Group conglomerate, Reliance Entertainment oversees the group’s media and entertainment interests, handling content production as well as distribution and delivery channels.

Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital

Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital is a 750-bed multi-specialty tertiary care hospital located in Versova, Mumbai. Initially envisioned as a heart hospital, it faced challenges after the death of its founder Nitu Mandke in 2003. The Reliance ADA Group of Anil Ambani was completed and named after Anil’s mother, Kokilaben Ambani. In 2016 the hospital announced plans to establish 18 cancer care centres in rural Maharashtra. It was awarded the Best Multi-specialty Hospital during the Navbharat Healthcare Awards Summit in 2018.
