ED seals Young Indian office in Delhi’s Herald House building

Delhi Police increased security in front of Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s Janpath residence.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday sealed the head office of the Congress-owned National Herald newspaper in New Delhi, a day after conducting raids at a dozen locations in connection with its ongoing money laundering probe.

According to the ED, opening the premises requires prior agency approval.

Additionally, more police have been stationed outside the Congress building in the nation’s capital at the same time, a move that the grand old party has dubbed “strange.”

In accordance with the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the agency searched 12 sites on Tuesday to “collect additional evidence with reference to the trail of funds.”

The “Herald House” office in central Delhi’s Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, ITO, which has been shut today, was also the target of the raids.

The address is listed under the name of the newspaper’s publisher, Associated Journals Ltd (AJL).

Along with a few other Congress members, the ED has interrogated Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her MP son Rahul Gandhi extensively.

Rahul Gandhi was questioned for more than 50 hours over five days in June, whereas Sonia Gandhi was questioned for more than 11 hours over three rounds last month.

Senior leaders from Congress took to the streets to protest the ED move against the Gandhis after the questioning sparked a wave of protests by Congress members across the nation.
