Aadhaar update: Understand how to update your Aadhaar card on UIDAI for free

Up till June 14, UIDAI offers free online document updates for Aadhaar users.

For a duration of three months, or until June 14, 2023, the Aadhaar-issuing authority UIDAI (the Unique Identification Authority of India) has made updating Aadhaar documents on its portal free. Nevertheless, the service is currently free on the My Aadhaar website and will cost ₹50 at physical Aadhar centres.

To maintain accuracy and keep the database updated, UIDAI encourages updating of Aadhaar data. Moreover, it facilitates verification and prevents fraud. In order to revalidate a user’s information, uploading proof of identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) papers is required when updating demographic information (Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile Number, and Email) online.

For people whose Aadhaar card was issued more than a decade ago, this is extremely helpful. The free process, it should be noted, is only available to update demographic details. One will still need to go to the Aadhaar enrollment centre and pay a service fee to start the process in order to update the phone number, biometrics, or other details.

Here is a step-by-step method to let you update your Aadhaar card’s address, name, address, date of birth, gender, and email for free.

Step 1: Open and Login into the MyAadhaar website

Step 2: Type in the OTP that was delivered to the registered mobile number.

Step 3: Choose “document update” from the menu. The portal will show the existing details.

Step 4: Proceed on if the data is accurate.

Step 5: Next, select dentity proof and address proof from the drop-down list, and then upload copies of each.

This comes after UIDAI revealed its latest IVRS system, a new security system for fingerprint authentication, and an artificial intelligence chatbot named Aadhaar Mitra.
