A tragic accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district claimed the lives of five people after soil collapsed into an under-construction well in Nayapurwa village under Gram Panchayat Beherpurwa in the Ajaygarh development block, officials said on Sunday.

According to local administration officials, the incident occurred while construction work was underway at the well site being developed under the Gram Panchayat. A sudden collapse of loose soil reportedly trapped several workers and villagers inside the deep pit, triggering panic in the area.

Authorities confirmed that five individuals lost their lives in the incident, while two others were rescued safely during an emergency operation launched immediately after the collapse.

Rescue teams, local police personnel and district administration officials rushed to the site after receiving information about the accident. Villagers also joined rescue efforts in an attempt to pull out those trapped beneath the debris.
