India and the United States are continuing negotiations on a proposed bilateral trade agreement as both countries work to strengthen economic cooperation and resolve pending trade issues.

Recent discussions between officials from New Delhi and Washington have focused on expanding bilateral trade, improving market access and enhancing cooperation in sectors such as technology, supply chains, manufacturing and investment. Official statements from both governments have confirmed that trade negotiations remain active.

According to reports on the ongoing negotiations, Indian and US officials recently held discussions in Washington as part of efforts to advance the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). The talks included issues related to tariffs, digital trade, agricultural access and investment cooperation.

The United States remains one of India’s largest trading partners, with bilateral trade between the two countries continuing to grow in recent years. Both governments have repeatedly highlighted economic cooperation as a major pillar of the India-US strategic partnership.

Recent India-US engagements have also included discussions on semiconductors, clean energy, digital infrastructure, resilient supply chains and emerging technologies. Both countries have increased collaboration through initiatives linked to Indo-Pacific economic cooperation and technology partnerships.

Officials from India’s Ministry of Commerce and the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) have stated that efforts are ongoing to deepen commercial ties and address trade-related concerns through continued negotiations.

No official announcement has yet confirmed the schedule or arrival date of a new US trade delegation visit to India. However, bilateral trade discussions between the two countries are continuing through diplomatic and economic channels.

Both sides have expressed optimism about strengthening long-term economic engagement as India and the United States continue expanding cooperation across trade, investment and strategic sectors.
